Attleborough Sustainable Urban Extension

A new community that complements the historic market town of Attleborough with well-designed new neighbourhoods, linked by a linear park.

We want to engage with residents at every step of the way.

Following public information events held in September and November 2021, we are now progressing the submission of the site-wide design code and structuring plan, as well as a number of other core strategies associated with the delivery of Phase 1 of the Attleborough Sustainable Urban Extension.

Outline planning permission for the Attleborough Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) was granted in March 2020 for 4,000 homes, a link road and other strategic infrastructure, two primary schools, local and neighbourhood centres, community facilities and public open space. Homes England, the UK Government’s housing accelerator, has purchased the first parcel of land.

As a Government Agency, Homes England’s role is to ensure more homes are built and assist in the delivery of new sustainable community.

Homes England’s role is to kick start the development by putting in infrastructure up-front to aid the delivery of a new community that complements the historic market town, with well-designed new neighbourhoods, linked by a linear park. Over the coming months, Homes England will work with Breckland District Council and local stakeholders to progress the plans through the next stages of the planning process, working towards submitting the next level of detail under submissions to the council at the end of the year, with further detail submitted in Spring 2022.

This web portal will be kept up to date with information as proposals for the first phase of the Sustainable Urban Extension are developed.
